Inspection of the replacement 2.8 M104 engine
From one of the previous posts, Rhino is a 3.2 and not 2.8, the engine replacement has completed and an inspection is mandatory to allow the new engine number to be endorsed in the registration card. This will also allow the road rax to be charged based on a 2.8 engine and not the 3.2 that it is currently registered as.
The process is rather straightforward where an appointment with Puspakom needs to be made, online or via their app, select inspection reason and make the payment accordingly.
The appointment went fairly smoothly but the inspectors seem to be paying attention to the bottom of the car and were looking for signs if the car was chopped and joint.
Once all was done, I was waiting for the results which are now sent via email in a paperless effort.
Shortly later, when I received the report, it passed but something was amiss, they did not correct the engine capacity to 2799cc, it reflected 3199cc.
A brief moment later upon approaching the operations officer, the issue was highlighted and resolved.
The next trip was to the road transport department to endorse the replaced engine into the registration card and also to get a renewal of the road tax with the correct engine capacity. The whole process took about 30 mins where the documents were vetted before the engine information is updated in the system. As soon as this was done, renewal of the road tax was promptly done and I was glad that the cost has reduced from the short tenure of having a 3.2 liter M104.
With this, the process of replacing the engine is completed successfully. This chapter is now closed.
